HR2934 FS, 6-axle electric locomotive E.645 1st series, castano/isabella livery, simplified FS logo, pantographs 42U, ep. IV-V

The FS electric locomotives E.645 1st series (units from 001 to 032) derive from the modification, realized at the beginning of ‘60s years, of the E.646 1st series locomotives, now specialized for freight services with top speed of 120 km/h and “castano/isabella” livery, carrying on the fronts the FS emblem with “shield” shape and metallic stripes around it. During their career these locomotives pulled mostly heavy freight trains, but occasionally also passenger trains, in most of the electrified Italian lines.

During the overhauls in ’80 years, beside all the updates introduced also on the E646 and E645 locomotives of 2nd series, these machines lost the front gutters on the cabins and received a smaller one for the left window, and the front FS emblem has been simplified removing the metallic stripes keeping only the central part, for maintenance reasons.

In the ‘90s they received the first important livery change, with the removal of the dark brown “castano” from roof and chassis keeping the full body painted in light brown “Isabella”, together with other technical modifications applied to the whole group.

GENERAL TECHNICAL FEATURES OF THE MODELS

-        NEW MOULDS for the bodyshells, with accurate reproduction of all the typical details of 1st series units in the state of the ‘80s-‘90s years, with modified front gutters, side panels, front FS emblems in different positions according to the reproduced unit, air serpentine on the roof, steps and handrails coherent with the period

-        Reliable mechanics with articulated chassis and gearboxes in metal, powerful 5-poles motor in central position with double cardan shaft transmission to the two head bogies, two wheels with traction tyre

-        New electric system with NEM 660/21MTC decoder plug for DCC and DCC Sound decoders, predispositions for rounded 23 mm speaker or for a rectangular “sugar cube” speaker 11x15 mm

-        “S” items with sound decoder ESU Loksound V5 and speaker installed by factory, with specific sounds

-        White front lights and rear red light with automatic inversion according to the running direction and possibility to disable them independently, either in analog (through DIP SWITCH on main PCB) and in digital (through decoder functions)

-        Possibility to install a central pick-up skid for running on 3-rails systems, with commutation through jumpers on main PCB

-        NEM 362 coupler pocket with short-coupling mechanism on both heads, with possibility to disassemble the coupler pocket to complete the fronts with all the realistic details

-        Accurate reproduction of the pantographs, Type 52 or 42U FS (according to the reproduced unit), full in metal and with pick-up possibility; closed position extremely flat and realistic

-        Bogies U1250 with 4 or 12 sandboxes, according to the period reproduced; front rail guards with or without the Signalling Repetition captators, according to the unit

-        Many separate parts in metal or plastic for maximum accuracy of the reproduction, with photo-etched lamps support on the buffer beams
