Product Info

The electric locomotives E.646 2nd series of the FS were built starting from 1961, based on previous units of 1st series with which they shared the mechanics and body but with a new design of the cabin, wider, more comfortable and with better visibility.

The livery was characterized by the “verde magnolia” green and “grigio nebbia” grey, typical colours of the most important FS rolling stock of that period, in this case with the addition of two striking aluminum stripes around the bodyshell and including the new FS logo on the fronts.

For all the ‘60s years and most part of ’70s years these locomotives have been the backbone of fast passenger services on all main electrified Italian railway lines.

Over the years these locomotives received several esthetic and mechanics modifications, to details such as steps, handrails, lamps, side panels, air intakes and other minor components, with the black replacing the brown on the bogies starting from 1975.

HR2867 reproduces the E.646 084 in the original state (period IIIb, first half of ’60s years).

HR2869 reproduces the E.646 177 in the state of the 2nd half of ’70 years (period IVa), with all the required modifications.
