HR2871S FS, electric locomotive E.646, 2nd series, "Navetta" MDVC livery and dark grey roof, period IVb, with DCC-sounddecoder

In 1981, during the conversion of the whole E646 group for shuttle push-pull services already started in the ‘70s, a new livery called “MDVC” has been introduced on these locomotives, based on violet and orange stripes over a beige background, same as the new “Medie Distanze” coaches to which they would have been coupled with. 

Initially characterized by a big orange rectangle on the front, shortly after the livery has been completed with a new decoration around the FS emblem with orange and violet stripes, recalling the ones on the sides; the roof was painted in dark grey until the end of the ‘80s, later repainted in silver.
