HR2883S Heisler Steam locomotive, 2-Truck model, "Northern Redwood Lumber Company #4", period III, with DCC-sounddecoder
Product Info
The Heisler steam locomotive was the other popular geared design built in the late 19th century. However, likely due to the fact that it did not hit the market until the early 1890s, it was not as successful as either the Shay or Climax. Despite this the Heisler did sell several hundred units and interestingly, remained in production until nearly the start of World War II (by comparison the Climax ended production in 1928). Several engines have been converted to standard gauge. The locos could be seen in service for many logging companies in the US for many decades. One of the owners was the “Northern Redwood Lumber Co.”. The Rivarossi H0 model features working head lights and a working geared drive train which is nothing less but fascinating to observe in motion. Note the different chimney type.
